We are proud to present to you our new release, yearly compilation BALKAN UNDER THE RADAR vol.4: ANTISOCIAL NETWORK. We have worked very hard on this one, and are giving it away for free so please help us share it.
After months of preparation, yearly regional compilation - Balkan Under The Radar, under the auspices of the Black Planet Records lived to have its third edition. Since they have already solidified the label’s sound and its residents, the Black Planet team presents us with the Antisocial Network. Compilations "Balkan Under The Radar" are aimed at discovering interesting names mainly from Serbia, but also from other countries from ex-Yugoslavia, with of course our residents and friends. We managed to unify underground from almost all of the former Yugoslav republics. Most of the stuff was brewed especially for this compilation, all of which were previously unreleased. This time compilation consists of three parts with 40 songs by artists from around the region. The first part is dedicated to the music-playing and electronic alternative projects with vocals. The second part is devoted to experimental instrumental music, hip hop and electronica. Third part is the most experimental and least pleasant to the listeners including noise and experimental.
Concerning the genres - this time too it's a wide range - alternative, post-rock, new / dark wave, hc punk, grunge, electronics, industrial, ambient, noise, avant garde, jazz, bass music, hip hop, noise, experimental, etc. Enjoy and share with others.

Njih dvojica se poznaju takoreći čitav život, mnogo pre nego što su se prihvatili posla oko osnivanja Tuxedomoon, kada njihovo druženje ni izdaleka nije dostiglo svoju pravu i punu vrednost. Blaine L. Reininger i Steven Brown su se upoznali posle upisa na Gradski koledž u San Francisku, u klasi studija elektronske muzike, kada su jedan drugog iznenadili svojim performansima na kraju semestra.

U pauzama aktivnosti vezanih za bend, koji je originalno nastao u Frisku, njih dvojica i dalje imaju posebne projekte kao duet. 1989. godine u Lisabonu snimaju koncertni album "1890-1990 A Hundred Years Of Music"; par godina kasnije rade muzičku pozadinu za predstavu koju su nazvali "Croatian Variations", a 2006. snimaju "Flower Songs".
Tačno dekadu kasnije objavljuju album "Monte Albán" (Independent Recordings, 2016), kako Reininger kaže "inspirativno mesto misterioznog zapotečkog vudua, buka čiju je muziku zaista teško razumeti ali koja utiče na sve oko sebe" - pa tako i na rad njih dvojice "na način koji nisu do tada bili iskusili".
"Monte Albán" je delo dvojice starih amigosa koji, bez obzira na silne godine za njima, nikada ne prestaju da uživaju u međusobnom razgovoru.

Pesma "Ares march", nazvana po bogu rata koji maršira, predstavlja jak i nasilan poziv na oružje koji potom omekšava Reiningerova violina; Brown "gazi" dirke klavira koje iskidano govore slušaocu, pa potom napravi nagli prekid, koji ispunjava usijani tenor, pun uspona i padova; kada ne divljaju, njihovi instrumenti su blagii, isijavaju sladunjave, smirene i delikatne zvuke, ali ti pasaži su samo maska za popunu rupa u pustolini obuzetoj besom.
"Air on loving" počinje Reiningerovim napadom na slušni nerv; note koje Brown potom izvlači iz organe vode u minimalističku atmosferu u kojoj je violina i dalje glavna. Napola presečena, Reiningerova svetlost se preliva čak i preko mračnih tonova Brownovog instrumenta; to je ljubav koja lebdi u vazduhu i prožima sve oko sebe.
"Colibri" je, sa svoje strane, veoma deskriptivna numera - klavir je vazduh, a violina je instrument koji opisuje ples ptice u vazduhu, taj nemirni let kolibrija. Ovo je tema koja može da posluži kao crtež, ali i kao sredstvo smanjenja napetosti između dva instrumenta koje klizi više ka kamernoj muzici, tom dalekom kontinentu koji njih dvojica istražuju još od prvih dana njihovog poznanstva i saradnje.
U "Walking the dog with Mssr. M." se konačno pojavljuje saksofon; to je pesma koja je na momente potpuno iščašena; organa se sve vreme sumanuto ponavlja kroz jedan obrazac, pomalo iritira pa potom ohrabruje dajući tako melodiji boju.
"Monte Albán" je delo bez rok uticaja, bez džez naznaka; to je jedno putovanje u kome se klavir i viola (šesta pesma, nazvana "6") kreću kroz amplitude prostora, zajedno sa periodima tišine sa kojima stvaraju dramatiča, tužan i žalostan ton - okruženje koje se potom pretvara u sedmu numeru "Piano vignette" u kojoj je klavir ogroman i dominantan, dok je Reiningerova violina misteriozna, slabašna i sablasna.
"Ixtla mysterium" je snažna poput "Ares march", jedna od najimpulsivnijih i najmoćnijih, koja u svom središnjem delu prelazi u pauzu koja obojici instrumentalista omogućava predah pre nego što ponovo krenu u naredni muzički juriš.

Album zatvara "Quetzalcóatl enters the city of Bruxelles", trijumfalni marš u kome, kao i uvek, Reiiningerova violina poziva sve "odsutne" da se pridruže proslavi.
Ovo je briljantan završetak dela koje Brown - pored kratke biografske skice Benita Juáreza, koga izjednačava sa mitskom pernatom zmijom Quetzalcóatl - opisuje kao "figuru što zamagljuje granicu između mita i svakodnevnog života", kako piše u knjižici koja prati ovaj album. "To je eklektični miks srednjevekovnih vojnih stilova i savremenih magičnih kvadrata, i ponajviše samih Reiningera i Browna."
