ROME - Parlez-Vous Hate? (2021)

ROME
Parlez-Vous Hate?
(2021)

ROME is back with a surprising new album bursting with anthems; a tongue-in-cheek, punk rock cry for freedom of expression! After last year's phenomenal long player "The Lone Furrow", no one was expecting Jerome Reuter to hit so soon and so hard, but "Parlez-Vous Hate?" delivers on all fronts. ROME's surprise album is a barn-burning, bombs-dropping, ceiling-cracking, ozone-splitting all-out-attack on what one would have expected from ROME after last year’s thought-provoking "The Lone Furrow", and delightfully offhanded in its delivery.

ROME - Gärten Und Strassen (2020)

ROME
Gärten Und Strassen
(2020)

"Gärten und Strassen" is the second instalment in a series of releases featuring exclusively martial ambient material and "industrial" collages, partially reminiscent of earlier ROME works such as "Hate Us and See if We Mind" (2013), "House of Stone" (2014) or parts of the "Die Aesthetik der Herrschaftsfreiheit" trilogy (2011). Whereas ROME's oeuvre usually features lots of guitar work, "Gärten und Strassen" focuses on complex industrial loops, unconventional bruitist arrangements and instrumental ambient collages.

ROME - Hinter den Mauern der Stadt (2019)

ROME
Hinter den Mauern der Stadt 7''
(2019)

To celebrate this year's 30th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, it is a distinct pleasure and honour for Jerome to collaborate on giving this classic song a new coat of paint with Die Skeptiker's original singer Eugen Balanskat. The song "Hinter den Mauern der Stadt" is dealing with the difficulties of coming to grips with the clash of the two German cultures and societies after the Fall of the Berlin Wall. This collaboration is available as a 7" vinyl, featuring Jerome Reuter's German-language song "Anderswo", which approaches the subject matter in a rather different way on the B-side.

ROME - Käferzeit (2019)

ROME
Käferzeit
(2019)

"Käferzeit" (the time of beetles) is the first instalment in a series of releases featuring exclusively martial ambient material and "industrial" collages, partially reminiscent of earlier ROME works such as "Hate us and see if we mind" (2013), "A Passage to Rhodesia" (2014) or parts of the "Die Aesthetik der Herrschaftsfreiheit" trilogy (2011). Whereas ROME's oeuvre usually features lots of guitar work, "Käferzeit" focuses on complex industrial loops, unconventional bruitist arrangements and instrumental ambient collages. The images evoked by these martial soundscapes (mostly made of restored period audio material and found sounds) transport us back to Europe's blood-drenched past, when ideologies were still battling each other to the death on European soil. Images of armoured creatures digging foxholes in a landscape ravaged by war; of the futility of defending trenches against murderous incursions, as shells tear bodies apart, souls apart.

ROME - The West Knows Best 7'' (2019)

ROME
The West Knows Best 7'' vinyl
(2019)

"The West Knows Best" is the third single from "Le Ceneri Di Heliodoro" (The Ashes of Heliodoro) album, on which witty social commentary is coupled with neofolk's finest brand of sarcasm. Screw the Rest, The West Knows Best - Reuter sings of the fall of the West and one can only wonder at the tongue-in-cheek sentiments portrayed in this inadvertent sing-along of the reluctant capitalist and its unapologetic portrayal of today's plague-ridden relations between the formerly new West and the Old Heart of Europe. All hail the stumbling the child, coiling for the vanishing light. The B-side is a gripping and freshly recorded live-version of one of ROME's absolute classics "One Fire", a song originally issued as part of ROME's seminal "A Passage to Rhodesia" back in 2014. This anthem which constitutes an inherent part of each and every live show was recorded at Heliopolis Studios in Reuter's adopted home of Eumesville.

ROME - Who Only Europe Know 7'' (2018)

ROME
Who Only Europe Know 7''
(2018)

"Who Only Europe Know" captivates with its simple, even monotonous arrangement, driven by repetitive machine samples and acoustic guitars. Once again, Jérôme Reuter has taken the fate of Europe as the thematic focus of his work, although with a new, energetic despair and, yes… anger. Against a backdrop of guitars and howling machines, Reuter deploys his powerful, enraged voice to sing of Europe’s precarious situation. The B-side of this strictly limited 7" single ("Die Geiselfrage / Tempus Loquendi") calms the nerves somewhat by serving up tranquil piano collages and spoken words. This teaser release proves yet again that ROME are not afraid to tackle difficult issues. "Who Only Europe Know" is a bombshell of a song; captivating yet disturbing and announcing a highly promising album.

ROME - Hansa Studios Session (2017)

ROME
Hansa Studios Session
(2017)

ROME and its entourage set up camp at Hansa for about 14 hours on October 2nd, 2016, and recorded 8 songs in one go. Never really stopping to get a second take, the recording captures the band the way it is - or was at least during that particular tour. ROME hand-picked a few songs from the lengthy tour set, among which are old classics ("Der Brandtaucher", "A Legacy of Unrest" and "Reversion"), newly arranged versions ("The Torture Detachment", "Querkraft"), renditions of songs from the latest release "The Hyperion Machine" ("Stillwell", "Transference") and one unreleased fine rock raritiy: "Mine".
