16. oktobra 1981. godine su Bauhaus (prozvani kumovima gothrocka) objavili svoj drugi studijski album "Mask". Na albumu su singlovi "Kick in The Eye" i "The Passion of Lovers", koji su proširili lepezu instrumenata u zvučnom repertoaru benda upotrebom klavijatura i akustičnih gitara (u PoL), kao i fanki ritmovima i saksofonima (KitE) zahvaljujući umeću gitariste Daniela Eša, koji to takođe čini na numerama "Dancing" i "In Fear of Fear".
Eš je takođe dizajnirao omot albuma, preteču njegovog Bubbleman Designsa, koji će kasnije uobličiti na četvrtom (i poslednjem) studijskom albumu Bauhaus "Burning From The Inside", kao i na albumima potonjih bendova Tones On Tail i Love and Rockets (u suštini - Bauhaus minus Piter Marfi, što smo već videli i čuli na dobrom delu spomenutog poslednjeg albuma Bauhaus).
Spot za naslovnu numeru albuma snimljen je u napuštenoj viktorijanskoj fabrici cipela u Northemptonu, njihovom rodnom gradu, kao očigledan omaž horor filmovima iz 70-ih. Inače, bend nije dobio dozvolu da tu zgradu koristi za snimanje spota pa se cela ekipa jednostavno tamo ušunjala i odradila produkciju.

Forty years ago today, 16th February 1981, The Sisters of Mercy famously played their first ever gig, supporting The Thompson Twins at a CND benefit concert held at Alcuin College at The University of York.

It's only politics! The CND "Winter Cruise" off in York, presumably in an attempt at poppy polemics which illustrated the problems faced in that marriage of convenience between pop music and worthy causes, the benefit gig.
As the assembling audience got tanked up in the bar, two support bands failed to grab the attention of the few in the hall. Maybe Sisters of Mercy opened up a bit gloomily, all suitably bleak and industrial featuring the mandatory drum machine. Lift-off failed and the bar did good business.
Making a live recording of a group of people playing music presents some challenges under normal conditions. When those people are thousands of miles apart, and in self isolation due to a world pandemic, it presents a whole new set of challenges. In the early summer of 2020, when the world was in lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, London After Midnight got together, virtually, online, to record some songs as they would perform them in a live concert setting. There were no crowds, no lights or video show, just the band performing live, waiting out the pandemic. 2020 was to be a year of heavy touring for London After Midnight with festivals and tours across Europe, UK, Mexico, USA and more. But with the cancellation of all events due to the pandemic, the band had to find an alternate way of reaching audiences. From their home studios, the band recorded the only live performances of 2020. These performances were filmed and recorded. The video is available on LAM's social media and various online festivals events. These recordings are the first volume of audio from these live sessions.
Almost 25 years since their last full length album, The Wake release another readymade goth classic - "Perfumes and Fripperies". Recorded over many months in different locations and various circumstances in the band's native Ohio, the album comes together to speak with one voice. Enhanced no doubt, by the mix provided by Matt Hagberg at VMS in Columbus and mastering by Emily Lazar at The Lodge in NYC.

The mysterious music project (((S))) returns from the cold and windy streets of Copenhagen with the brand new album "Black Dog". As always with (((S))), his music has its roots in post-punk, although the songs are longer this time, with more instrumental passages and a minimum of lyrics. "Black Dog" includes a collection of 8 songs in which (((S))), together with Denmark's best backing musicians, lead through dark soundscapes of guitar walls, solid drum beats and sparkling basses interwoven with frugal, distorted vocals that make you think.
